V-Nam Vietnamese Cuisine
Two-location North Vancouver Vietnamese restaurant — best known for sate peanut pho, banh mi, and being one of the only late-night kitchens on the North Shore.
V-Nam Vietnamese Cuisine runs two North Vancouver locations: the original at 175 E 3rd Street in the Lower Lonsdale (Shipyards-adjacent) district and a second outlet at 1643 Lonsdale Avenue in Central Lonsdale. The 3rd Street location is the more-cited of the two, partly because of its kitchen hours: it stays open until midnight, making it one of the only sit-down Vietnamese kitchens on the North Shore serving past 9 pm. For North Shore residents finishing late shifts or arriving from a ferry, V-Nam is on the short list of after-9pm food options.
The menu is broad Southern Vietnamese — pho across the standard cuts (rare beef, brisket, tendon, meatball), vermicelli (bun) bowls with grilled meats, banh mi, fresh and fried rolls, and a range of rice and stir-fry dishes. The signature item is the Sate Peanut Pho, a non-standard variant blending the classic clear pho broth with peanut and satay seasoning — it's the most-ordered item on the menu per the restaurant's own published menu pages. The standard pho (#41 beef, #56 vegetarian) is the default order for first-time visitors.
Vegetarian options are reasonably represented: the #56 vegetarian pho with mushroom-and-vegetable broth, vegetarian rolls with mango and basil, vegetable curry, and vermicelli-with-curry rice noodle bowls. The space is casual sit-down with table service. Takeout and delivery are available via the major platforms (Uber Eats, DoorDash, SkipTheDishes) in addition to dine-in.
Pricing sits at the standard Vietnamese-Canadian value tier — pho bowls in the high teens, banh mi around $10–12, vermicelli bowls in the high teens to low twenties. The space comfortably handles families and groups; reservations are accepted but rarely required outside Friday and Saturday evenings.
