Coquitlam Centre opened in 1979 and has been the main shopping destination for the Tri-Cities ever since. At over 100,000 m² with 200+ tenants, it's the biggest mall east of Metrotown and the only major mall in Coquitlam proper. It's anchored by Hudson's Bay, Walmart, a T&T Supermarket, a Save-On-Foods, and a Cineplex theatre. Most of the everyday shopping tenants you'd expect in a suburban Canadian mall are here, plus a substantial food court and several Korean-focused retailers catering to Coquitlam's Korean-Canadian community.

For newcomers, Coquitlam Centre is the practical one-stop shop — you can buy groceries, electronics, clothes, furniture, and see a movie without leaving the mall. The T&T Supermarket inside is one of the best-stocked Asian grocery stores in the Tri-Cities. The food court has better-than-average Korean options (bibimbap, kimbap, bulgogi rice bowls) alongside the usual mall offerings.

Coquitlam Centre is directly connected to the Coquitlam Central SkyTrain station via a covered walkway — you can step off the train and be in the mall in under two minutes. This is unusual for North American suburban malls and makes Coquitlam Centre one of the few places in the Tri-Cities where you can realistically do a full shopping trip without a car. It's not a tourist destination, but for residents and newcomers getting set up in Coquitlam, it's often the first stop.
